Le songe

€75.00

This watercolor on paper is inspired by a painting from Matisse and a quote from Certenais.

I fell in love with the painting of “le reve” from Matisse. I loved the soothing colors and how peaceful the woman looked in it. That I knew I will have to try to interpret it.

So inspired by the Nicolas Certenais quote :

La nuit fait voir de belles choses à qui sait voir les paupières closes. Le rêve élève l’élève qui sait écouter la leçon de ses songes.

Meaning the night reveals beautiful things to those who can see with their eyes closed. To me it is an invitation to daydream and rest. I hope this poem evokes the same to you.

Watercolor on cotton paper 17×24cm
