Fine Artist & Illustrator

from Bonn, Germany

Meo Richter is a fine artist, illustrator, and creative soul based in Bonn, Germany. Meo is the nickname, Marilyn’s father used to give her when she was a child, and is deeply connected to her early childhood memories or creating art in her bedroom.

She was born in the small town of Decin in Czech Republic, but grew up most of her life in West and North Africa (Benin, Ivory Coast and Tunisia). After which, she embark on a journey that took her across three continents to study International Relations and Development.

She is a self-taught artist that creates vibrant oil paintings and illustrations inspired by the beauty of everyday life.

Her love for drawing slowly evolved into painting as she reconnected with her artistic self during her maternity.

Travels where always a big part of her life, and deeply influence her artwork and journey. Meo has been deeply mark by memories of the rural life in Czech Republic, which is often seen in her still-life paintings of cottage scenes.

But she is increasingly drawing influences in her years spent in Korea and Africa in her new art explorations. African traditions, Asian temples, or eastern European folklore are all themes that she wishes to explore more in her new art journey.

Meo lives and work in Bonn, Germany, with her husband and little daughter.

Now, my work is deeply rooted in a sense of place and nostalgia — an invitation to slow down and see the world with wonder.

NOTES FROM MEO.

Art, to me, is a way of building bridges — across cultures, across feelings, and between artist and viewer.

I find joy in creating pieces that speak without words, capturing something quiet yet deeply felt.

I hope my work brings warmth and beauty into people’s homes — small visual reminders to slow down, notice, and cherish the simple, poetic moments of everyday life.

I want my art to inspire others to embrace their own creativity, to collect pieces that feel personal and meaningful, and maybe even to pick up a brush or creative hobby themselves.

Art can be both comfort and catalyst — something that gently transforms the spaces we live in, and the way we move through the world.

When I’m not painting, I’m soaking up inspiration through motherhood and nature.
